Each year the Australian state and terriority regional branches commission an artist working in the local video game industry to create their relevant state or territories visual identity for the Global Game Jam.

I was privileged enough to be brought on last minute to create the visuals for the IGDA Melbourne Global Game Jam in 2025.

As I was brought on last minute to create the visual identity for the Melbourne IGDA Global Game Jam we only had a couple of weeks to discuss the brief, brainstorm, create the visuals, and create the required social media and merchandise friendly assets. Additionally, as these assets would be turned into merchandise for participants, I was given a strict printer-friendly colour palette to work within.

For the brief, IGDA Melbourne wanted work that would show off the collaborative nature of the event while still feeling distinctly Australian. The illustration needed to feel inclusive, warm, and embody the spirit of making DIY games with your friends. After many drafts, I took inspiration from a very chatty pack of native birds living in my garden and set about creating work that used the diverse avian wildlife of Naarm to show how different community members can work together to make games with each other.
